National History Academy is designed for 90 highly motivated 10th, 11th and 12th graders from across the nation who already possess a basic knowledge of American history.
Accommodations
The National History Academy is hosted at Foxcroft School in Middleburg, Virginia, a premier student-centered private secondary school campus in a safe and secure environment, with modern residence halls, classrooms, athletic facilities, and dining hall. The campus itself was part of the territory traversed by cavalry and others during the Civil War Battle of Middleburg, and is within an hour of Washington, D.C., and 30 minutes from Dulles Airport. The campus is conveniently located within a three-hour drive of all the important historic sites that the students will visit.

Foxcroft has five dormitories that each house between 20-45 students. Our student/teacher ratio in the dorms is 6:1. Dorm Teams of teaching staff and counselors, who share the dorms with the students, will manage residential life and daily schedules. You may have 1, 2 or 3 roommate(s). Boys and Girls will sleep in separate dormitories.
One special thing about Foxcroft dormitories is their sleeping porches. You will share a room and private bath with your roommate(s), but all beds are across the hall in a different area. You will be expected to be in bed with the lights out at 11:00 pm.
A cleaning service will clean common areas and bathrooms twice per week. You are responsible for your own laundry. Each dorm has a laundry facility.
During the 3-day, 2-night visit to the Virginia Triangle (Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown), you will stay at a local hotel.
Dining
At the National History Academy, we know that a balanced diet is important. That is why we are committed to delivering a healthy, delicious menu with options to satisfy even the pickiest eater.
On days at Foxcroft, all meals will be held in the Dining Hall. Breakfast is served 7:00-7:30 am; lunch is available 12:30 -1:00 pm; and dinner from 5:30-6:00 pm. During field trips, you will enjoy a boxed lunch. You will be able to select from a variety of options, so accommodating food allergies, vegetarians, and most dietary restrictions won’t be an issue.
Snacks outside of meal times are available for purchase at the vending machines or in the PX shop.
